Today I am off to college so I can get settled into my dorm, and get my room all ready and get my books for classes. It is hard to believe I have waited 3 months for this. I signed up for some of the same classes I did when I was going to high school because I have two friends and myself that are going to be web developers.

A web developer is like a web master and they maintain some web sites using some special software. I think it would be fun just to invent new software for a company, but time will tell.

I had bought some computer books during my high school years and have been doing a lot of research of words. I remember one phrase was dating on-line. That was new to me, being I already had a girlfriend. So to play it safe, I mentioned to her one night about checking a site that had dating on-line, and she agreed. As we were both looking, nothing was very interesting to either one of us. In fact, we just both sat there for about ½ hour just looking at all the sites. We went to a dating on-line site to see how some of those men and women were dressed and advertising for a date, and a lifelong companion, was nothing to look at for us.

Well college started, and I went to my first computer class. The first topic was about wifi. Now that is a new one to me. Then the instructor put on the board a wifi. Although it should be shown as Wi-Fi I do remember a wifi is a wireless fidelity. Being a notebook or laptop is wireless, you just need to get near a wifi spot. A wifi is an area that sends like a two-way radio signal to any connected computer within its range. I call a wifi hot spot an internet café.

Another topic we discussed was internet access. Meaning how were you going to get access to the internet if you had a desktop. Now the word broadband is a type of transmission media that send many signals out at the same time. So a broadband provider is something like your cable company, or it could be your cell phone provider, or even your home phone provider. Everywhere you turn, you will have a broadband provider.

Well class is over today, so I need to get to my job at the computer store, so I can help other people with the same questions that I had once. Our broadband provider at work is a satellite system.
